Walter Lippmann established the ECC (of Victoria) because he basically understood that we (the ethnic communities) have a bigger role to play, that it is our responsibility to create some structures for other communities that are coming after, whoever it is.

CONTINUATION OF INTERVIEW AS TEXT

The Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria has in excess of 120 affiliated organisations today.

I think ethnic structures play a role at various levels, and I think that ethno-specific structures have to be complementary to the community structures, because I don't think other community structures can do some of these things and provide this environment in quite the same way.
