GIOVANNI SGRO
Post-war migrant and later, Member of Victoria’s Legislative Council

The Good Neighbour Council was established purely to look after the English migrant. And, you know, they could look after the English migrant well because the English like teas and the rest of it. We didn't. We like coffee. And the first time I met the Good Neighbour Council, they just gave me a nice cup of tea, which I appreciated, but beyond that they did nothing.

From The Quiet Revolution, SBS Television, 1983.
